Preschool Classes
(Ages 3-5)
Pike: No experience required. Child should be comfortable in water without parent. Children adjust to water and develop independent movement. Teaches basic stroke and kicking skills, floating, and pool safety.
Eel: For children who are comfortable in the water and able to swim 5 ft on front and back with no flotation device. Children are taught to float, kick and perform progressive arm movement across the pool.
Ray: Participant should be comfortable with face in water and able to swim 15 ft, front and back without assistance. Reviews and improves stroke skills on front, back. Introduces breaststroke and elementary backstroke, builds endurance and teaches treading water skills.
Youth Classes
(Ages 6 and up)
Polliwog: Beginner level for those uncomfortable or inexperienced in the water. Teaches basic water skills from crawling with face in water, floating, backstroke, and breath control.
Guppy: Participant must be comfortable in the water and able to swim 20 ft. front crawl and backstroke without assistance. Continues teaching front and back crawl; introduces breaststroke and elementary backstroke and breathing while swimming.
Minnow: Participant should be able to swim 25 yds., front crawl with face in water, and 25 yds. backstroke. Teaches refined strokes from lead-up strokes learned in Guppy, and introduces sidestroke.
Fish: Participant should be able to swim 25 yds. backstroke, breaststroke and front crawl with rotary breathing. Refines breaststroke, teaches butterfly, open turns and improves other strokes.
