Fitlinxx®
Fitlinxx® is our new computerized program to assist our members with their workout. The system is attached to existing fitness equipment, adding an extraordinary “intelligent” dimension to the workout experience. Fitlinxx® will coach you through your workout for better form, safety and confidence and tracks your progress. It is also available for our members who only participate in group exercise classes. Kiosks are available in our halls for members to record which classes they are attending. For additional information or to register for your Fitlinxx® orientation, stop by the Wellness Center counter.
BodyPump®
Weights with music! This class uses high repetitions to create an intense muscular endurance workout. It is excellent cross training for your fitness program.
BodyCombat®
This dynamic, non-contact martial arts based class combines moves drawn from the disciplines of Karate, Kickboxing, Tae Kwan Do, Muay Tai, Kung Fu, and Tai Chi into an hour long empowering workout. Music and choreography create a fiercely energetic routine that raises fitness levels throughout the entire body creating a superior cardio experience.
Body Flow®
Both challenging and rejuvenating, this workout combines the three disciplines, Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates to leave you feeling long, strong, centered and calm. This exercise-to-music class starts with Tai Chi to calm the center and warm you into the workout. Next, a standard yoga format will fully stretch, strengthen and energize your body. Pilates provides the quintessential core workout. The result: improved balance, flexibility and strength and therefore improved functionality of your body.
Zumba®
A fusion of Latin and International music; dance themes create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system. Zumba® features aerobic interval training using combinations of fast and slow rhythms in easy-to-follow dance steps that tone, sculpt and maximize caloric output. High energy and very motivating!
Reformer Pilates
Reformer Pilates is a unique system of stabilizing, strengthening and stretching exercises using the Allegro Reformer machine. The Allegro Reformer consists of pulleys, springs, foot bar and moving carriage, which are utilized to train and strengthen the entire body. This system of exercise will change the way you look and feel!
Intro class: Free to Full Service Members
Intermediate Reformer class:
$20 for single class $100 for 10 classes.
Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates is a group exercise class, limited to 12 participants of all fitness levels. The main focus is strengthening core postural muscles using resistance with bands and balls.
Personal Trainers
Personal Trainers are available for a fee and by appointment only. All Personal Trainers are nationally certified by AFAA, ACE, ACSM or NSCA. For additional information or to arrange an appointment, contact Amy Craddock at 281-360-2500.
Wellness Center Orientations
Register at our Wellness Center for your personalized orientation on all of our strength training and cardiovascular machines. The sessions are by appointment and usually take about one hour. Our trainers will take you through each piece of equipment and familiarize you with them while getting you set up on a workout program that is just right for you!
Older Youth Weight Training Orientation Classes will include instruction on machine weights, cardiovascular equipment, exercise principles, flexibility and much more! Upon completion you will receive an OYST card that allows participant to work out in the Y-Zone without a parent or guardian. Space is limited so register early.

Older Youth Weight Training Orientation
(Ages 13-15) This one-hour session is offered to our Full Service Members fee of charge. It will teach the basic principles behind strength training and cardiovascular exercise. Sign up for an orientation at the Wellness Center desk.
Women and Weights
A 4-week intermediate program on free weights created especially for women. Learn different exercise techniques as well as proper and safe form using free weights in a small group setting in the Wellness Center. Resistance training is so important to overall health and fitness that women cannot afford NOT to incorporate resistance training into their fitness programs.

Massage Therapy
The Lake Houston Family YMCA is pleased to announce the addition of Stephanie Cook, Licensed Massage Therapist, to our staff. Massages help to prevent and relieve muscle cramps and spasms and improve the circulation of your blood. It is also effective in pain management and relieves fatigue, reduces tension and anxiety. Yoga
This 60 minute class combines multiple yoga disciplines that include postures (asanas) to build core strength, flexibility and endurance.
Spinning
This high energy training session emphasizes individual focus in a group setting. YOU SET YOUR PACE! Motivating music with inspiring visualization completes the mind/body workout.
Texas Wellness Associates
Texas Wellness Associates offers a variety of screenings on the third Monday of each month at the Lake Houston Family YMCA. There is a charge for the test and appointments are necessary. Call 713-683-9494 for additional information, appointments and to confirm
