You will even play tag with robots that you control!
TUTS - Theatre Under The Stars
A weeklong musical theatre camp taught by TUTS, Houston’s non-profit musical theater company. Students will be taught a mini musical culminating in a stage presentation at the end of the week. The musical salute will be determined by TUTS depending on the enrollment.
Thrasher Camp
Skateboarding Camp Participants will learn the basics of skateboarding, as well as expand their skating ability through the teaching of local skateboarding experts in the fun and monitored environment of the Langham Creek YMCA. Participants will enjoy full use of the YMCA skate park, receive a one-year complimentary skate pass and a skateboard. Thrasher week is designed around the needs of beginners and intermediate skaters. Thrasher week will culminate in a final skateboard competition where the participants will put their skills on display in a fun, everyone wins, thrash session.
Secret Agent Lab - Mad Science®
Look out 007, the Mad Science® Spy Academy is in session! Using powers of observations and Inspectikit, our young forensic scientists will have all they need to get started on their detective adventure. Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view at the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and step into the shoes of a spy in action!
Filmmaking Camp for Beginners
Children will embark on a journey of making and filming their very own movie. As a group, children will learn the 5 W’s and 1 H (who, what, where, why, when and how) of developing a kid-friendly film idea with 3 acts. On the last day of this session, children will film their movie, and will receive a DVD of their work.
Camp VBS - Power Science Lab
Camp VBS will experiment in the Power Lab where children will get a new enthusiasm for God’s Word and for Jesus! As you engage kids with fun, science-themed surprises, you’ll see amazing things happen. The delighted smiles...the memorable Bible points...they all add up to making a lifelong difference in the lives of your children! All campers will receive a New Testament Bible.
Musicology - Guitar Camp
So you think you have talent? Our music camp is where it’s at. Gather up your guitar if you have one, while we get down to basics. This music camp wil be led by a professional musician who will teach the kids to take it up a notch. To strum it all up, at the end of the week, we will have “open mic night” for family; full of singing, dancing and fun.
Praise Dance Camp
In this camp, children will learn an array of rhythmic dance moves designed to express feeling and emotions that are inherent to chosen music. This routine will be performed at the end of the week amongst parents and camp friends. No dance clothes needed, T-shirt and jeans are the appropriate attire.
The Great Outdoors
Children ages 8-10 will enjoy a week of excitement as we explore the Great Outdoors through special events such as: the Great Campout, the Great Hunt, and the Great Hike. Through these grand activities we will venture out into wooded areas for a great day of hiking, ropes course, animal print discovery and a host of other nature activities. At the end of this captivating week we encourage everyone to bring their camping gear as we set up camp the Y Day Camp way. The participants will go on one field trip to Camp Pine Tree in Old Town Spring to further the experience “The Great Outdoors.”
