The YMCA has a long history of providing classes and educational opportunities to people in our communities. Programs can include all types of dance classes, such as ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap; art classes, such as pottery, drawing and painting; gymnastics and tumbling classes for babies through young adults.

Dance 1

(Ages 2-3) This class is an educational dance program that emphasizes balance, coordination, spatial awareness, strength and flexibility. Your child will also learn the fundaments of ballet and the importance of stretching and flexibility.

Dance 2

(Ages 4-6): This class is a higher level than Dance 1. In this class children will begin learning choreography and more advanced positions; while continuing to teach the importance of stretching and flexibility.

Gymnastics

Tumble Tots 1

(Ages 2-3) This class provides pre-gymnastic and motor skill experiences. Basic fundamental skills are taught using physical movement and cognitive development as a source of discovery.

Tumble Tots 2

(Ages 4-5) This class helps to better develop both fine and gross motor skills. Fundamental skills and basic tumbling are taught. This class is a great start for your future cheerleaders and gymnast.

Power Tumbling 1

(Ages 6-8) Class will include warm-ups, stretches, tumbling drills, and basic jumps. Students will progress from basic tumbling skills such as forward/backward rolls, kick handstands and cartwheels to more advanced moves such as round-offs, flip flops, and beginner back handsprings.

Power Tumbling 2

(Ages 9-12) Class will review basics taught in power tumbling 1, but builds up to more advanced skills on bar, beam and floor.

Cheer 1

(Ages 6-9) Introduces children to the sport of cheerleading. Includes basic cheers, jumps, stunts and tumbling.

Martial Arts 1 (Ages 5-7) Traditional Japanese martial arts of the Samurai and Ninja.
